IMPACT FACTOR: 1.3
This study aims to investigate the relationship between age and chemotherapy use in patients with Breast Cancer (BC) and Colorectal Cancer (CRC) while considering other patient-related factors. By investigating patient-related factors and their independent predictive impact on chemotherapy utilization, this research endeavors to enhance the understanding of treatment decision-making and improve patient outcomes in this vulnerable population.
Conservative surgery is the standard treatment for breast cancer. However, there are cases in which mastectomy is imperative. There is a risk of developing local recurrence of 2-9.5% according to the literature.
Radiation-Induced Organizing Pneumonia (RIOP) is a rare complication observed after breast irradiation with few reported cases in the literature. We present the case of a premenopausal 40-year-old female who presented with ER+/PR+/HER2- invasive ductal carcinoma in the right axillary tail.
This editorial provides a comprehensive exploration of apocrine metaplasia in the breast, delving into its clinical implications, diagnostic challenges, and potential causes. While generally benign, apocrine metaplasia poses difficulties in accurate diagnosis due to its resemblance to more serious conditions.
Transcription factors proteins play essential roles in regulating cellular events in breast cancer that mediate or contribute to tumorigenesis. Embryonic transcription factors, such as SOX proteins, are key players regulating the balance between Epithelial-Mesenchymal Transition (EMT) and the reverse Mesenchymal-Epithelial Transition (MET).
It is well known fact that shower metastasis is quite common occurrence after Breast cancer surgery. The appearance of distant metastasis after surgery is commonly treated by Chemotherapy and lately addition of Immunotherapy has increased the overall survival.
Background: Mammography screening is the most effective way to minimize breast cancer morbidity and mortality. Unfor tunately, the uptake of mammography in Nigeria has been low.
Despite emerging studies suggest the beneficial role of vitamin D, evidence on the relationship between vitamin D deficiency and risk of getting breast cancer is till now inconsistent and scarce in Southeast Asia. Therefore, we intended to explore the association between serum 25(OH)D and the risk of breast cancer among the Malaysian woman.
We aim to analyse the relationship of the grades of Invasive Ductal Carcinoma with the KI-67 index in breast cancer patients and, stratifying patient prognosis and to create a comprehensive prognostic index for clinical applications. A mono-institutional cohort for cancer breast patients having complete clinical, radiological, histological, and follow-up data. The <20% and >20 % Ki67 cut-offs were correlated to IDC grades, lymph-node positivity and tumor size...
Introduction: Minimal invasive treatment for breast cancer has been introduced under various technologies. Chief amongst them are ablation techniques like Laser, Radiofrequency, Micro-ablation and Cryo-ablation.
The advantages of Laser Ablation are reduced procedure time and real time visualization of tumour.
Material and procedure: 12 patients were subject to laser ablation of tumour between 2008 and 2021. All patients were unwilling to undergo formal mastectomy and were in Stage 3 by Manchester classification.
The rising incidences of breast and thyroid cancer in women has resulted in them becoming among the commonest malignancies in females [1]. The common sites of metastasis from breast cancer are lymph nodes, bones, lungs and liver. Metastases to the thyroid gland from a non-thyroid primary are uncommon and are mostly from the kidney, followed by gastrointestinal tract, lungs, skin, and rarely breast [2]. Synchronous primary tumors of the thyroid and breast are also very rare in clinical practice.
Background: Breast Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) has been shown superior to mammography and ultrasound in terms of cancer detection and tumour size estimation. However, breast MRI is seldom done at our unit because of its cost.
Aims: We reviewed 31 women (32 cancers) who had pre-operative MRI and evaluated the impact of additional MRI-detected lesions on surgical planning and margin status.
Objectives: We sought to validate the use of Digital Image Analysis (DIA) with the Aperio Digital Scanner (Leica Biosystems) for assessment of Ki67 proliferation Labeling Index (LI) in patients with Breast Cancer (BC) and compare the results with the manual method of Visual Assessment (VA).
Methods: We retrospectively identified 87 patients with BC and retrieved paraffin-embedded, whole-tissue sections for Ki67 immunostaining (monoclonal MIB-1 clone)...
Objective: A paradigm shift has occurred in evidencebased breast cancer screening and prevention recommendations towards a personalized risk assessment-based approach. A resulting trend is dramatic growth in new High Risk Breast Clinic (HRBC) programs incorporating a frontend risk assessment. There is a lack of standardized information on the implementation of these emerging programs which are characterized by substantial variation.
Introduction: A 56 year post-menopausal lady presented with a left breast mass lesion of 3 month duration. Mammograms in CC and MLO views revealed multifocal left breast malignancy involving the upper outer quadrant of the left breast with metastatic left axillary nodes. A subtle 4 x 4 mm nodular lesion with three specks of pleomorphic microcalcifications concerning for DCIS were also seen in the right breast.
Introduction: In the past, a mastectomy was the first approach to the treatment of breast cancer. Today, breast-conserving surgery combined with adjuvant radiotherapy has become the standard treatment for a large number of women with breast cancer. Even for resection of larger tumours, which previously could only be treated with a mastectomy, breast-conserving surgery in combination with oncoplastic reconstruction is possible with a good cosmetic result...
Purpose: Pathologic Complete Response (PCR) following Neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) for breast cancer has been associated with improved survival. The objective was to characterize those patients receiving NAC and analyze predictors of PCR.
Background: Human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER-2) is an important prognostic and predictive factor in women with breast cancer (BC). The importance HER-2 extracellular domain (ECD) in serum is not yet determined. The aim of this study was to explore the correlation between serum ECD and tissue HER-2 expression and to compare ECD levels with clinical and pathological features in primary BC patients.
Background: Primary sarcoma of the breast represent less than 1% of all breast malignities, and leiomyosarcoma are extremely rare. We report an unusual case of leiomyosarcoma of the breast in a Moroccan man.
Green synthesis methods are gaining significance as promising routes for the sustainable preparation of nanoparticles, offering reduced toxicity towards living organisms and therefore the environment. Among nanoparticles, gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) attract much attention thanks to their usability and high performance in imaging techniques. The wide availability of biological precursors employed in plant based synthesized AuNPs allows for the event of large-scale production during a greener manner...
