Cryopreservation is a common procedure used to preserve spermatozoa for a certain period of time, to address the problem of infertility in males. During the cryopreservation process there will be cold shock, osmotic stress and the formation of ice crystals. These three events will cause the quality of spermatozoa to decrease in motility, viability, changes in permeability and changes in lipid components in the membrane.
