Sponge Iron Production by Calcium Carbonate, Sodium Carbonate, and Barium Carbonate Catalysts Using Tunnel Kiln Method

Mohsen Yarahmadi; Vahid Javanbakht*

Due to the high price of natural gas in the production of sponge iron, the overall cost of production is also high in gas methods. Coal methods are an appropriate alternative to gas methods, in which anthracite coal is used to produce sponge iron. The low price of anthracite coal, low water consumption and low utilization of natural gas are the reasons for the superiority of these methods.
